Educated in Atlantic Canada, graduated of Dalhousie University, Halifax, Ian M. Doig has been directly associated with the Canadian oil industry since 1960.

Through his prior experience as a lobbyist for the industry, he has extensive knowledge of and contact with Canadian and United States energy policy makers. On numerous occasions he has appeared as an expert witness on energy matters before Canadian and United States government bodies.

Mr. Doig has written and published major reports on the Canadian frontier plays and has lectured on their potentials in North America, in the U.K., in Europe and in South East Asia. His wide base of knowledge of the Canadian oil industry is balanced by his studies of the oil plays. The news media have recognized Mr. Doig’s work and have interviewed and quoted him extensively.

Since 1983, Mr. Doig has published his own independent newsletter, Doig's Digest, dealing with the Canadian oil industry. Consistently winning national awards for his business and financial energy writings, Ian Doig’s views have impact.
